Vassilios V. Dimakopoulos holds a Diploma degree from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras, and M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Victoria, Canada. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, in the specialization of Electronics Engineering.
He serves as a Professor of Parallel Processing in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Ioannina since 1998, initially as an adjunct professor and later as a regular faculty member. From 2014 to 2017 he was Deputy Chairman of the department. From 2016 to 2020 he also served as the Director of Graduate Studies. He is the Dean of the School of Engineering since 2017, and Chair of the Technical Council of the University of Ioannina.
His interests and the activities of his research team (https://paragroup.cse.uoi.gr) lie in the areas of parallel and distributed systems, parallel programming, systems software, computer architecture, embedded systems and performance analysis.
